Richard J. Mitchen

Richard was born in Akron, Ohio to parents John F. and Annastasia (Berlyak) Mitchen. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, graduated from Falls High School and retired after a 40-year career as a machinist.

Richard had attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls and recently, he and his wife Linda, became members of the Alliance American Legion Post 166. He enjoyed woodworking, classic cars, and model cars. He also designed and built his own models, building a covered wagon and stagecoach. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Ohio sports teams and he was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone.

Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda (Hayden) Mitchen, his grandson Austin Mitchen (Brittany Winkler), great-granddaughter Penny Mitchen and his brother Raymond (Cathy) Mitchen. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard Mitchen Jr., his sister Barbara Bradley and his brother John Mitchen.

Mass of Chrisitan Burial, officiated by Rev. Matthew Humerickhouse, will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 663 Fernwood Blvd. Alliance, OH 44601.
