Rosie & family , I was so sorry to hear about Bro .Rich . He was such a good man .Today is a sad day , Today ,January 15th is the day 12 years ago I buried my Angel ..But as sad as I am, I rejoice in knowing because of a little store front church and a very loud ,fabulous preacher , that was determined to preach the gospel to everyone that he met ,I can know without uncertainty that my daughter is in Heaven . .Because of a young man of God, who never gave up on anyone, who truly was someone who cared about the lost , because of a man that wouldn't take no for an answer when it came to preaching the word of God, I know I will see my daughter and loved ones that accepted Christ ... And because of a faithful man of God many of my family are saved .
Bro.Rich was not only a special man of God but he was a faithful, loving friend , He was a man you could count on , kind and caring .
As I think of him now ,I know he's in Heaven loudly PRAISING GOD and rejoicing so excited to say to everyone ,ITS REAL. HEAVEN IS REAL !! I pray you all find peace and comfort in your grief of knowing he's in Heaven driving God nuts with all his questions and loudly praising a😄 . We are so thankful for Pastor Shiver, our first pastor that led my husband ,myself and my children to God. ❤❤❤ David & Sharon Miller & family

I am so sorry to hear of my classmates passing. It was a privilege to have been able to grow up with Richard and share that time with him. What a dear, sweet person. It certainly was a blessing to me to have known him and have him help form my life.

AND, BEHOLD, THERE CAME A VOICE
De 28:2

In 1980 There Came a Voice into my life at a time when my life was heading in the wrong direction. Words will never express how much influence brother Rich had in my life and in my family’s life.

It is because of His Voice and his love for God that I know the Lord Jesus Christ. It is because of His Voice and his love for God much of my family knows the Lord. It is because of His Voice, thousands of others have come to know the Lord as their Saviour.

Rosie, I am praying for you and the family, you have always been a wonderful testimony, a wonderful friend, a wonderful preacher’s wife and a wonderful Christian.

Thank you so much for sharing brother Rich with so many people. Your sacrifice has caused many to come to know Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. Because of that, His Voice Will Never Be Forgotten.

I have great memories spending time with you and brother Rich, so many that I could fill pages and pages with. His voice will truly be missed and I am eternally grateful for having him as my one and only pastor, and youand the family as friends. If there is ever anything that I can do for you, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I remember bringing up 53 1 lb boxes of tracts there was 1,000 tracts in each box . I called bro. SKIVERS and asked to bring to church he said yes and gave me about 20 minutes to explain about the Fellowship Tract League and those boxes addressed to people requesting them. During the preaching something started smoking up the church so he told everyone to go outside and on your way out grab those boxes of tracts and mail them out . Turned out blower motor bad in furnace. The start of support for the Fellowship Tract League at Bethel. Brother Skivers even started supporting the tract ministry with profit money off selling his puppies. Praying for you and the family Sister Skivers. All the people that have been touched by his preaching and giving even the new church property wouldn’t be enough room for all the lives that has been changed because of his sacrifice for his Lord Christ Jesus. Love Wayne and Bobbie Brock

I just heard the news about Pastor Skiver.
What a great man of God he IS!!
He taught me how to be a blessing to visiting Pastors.
He did that for me the few times I got to visit Bethel.
He even let me preach once!
I was an associate Pastor then, but he treated me as a Pastor!!
He will be greatly missed!!
Our church will be praying for Miss Rose and the family.

Lord Bless Ya!!

I started attending Bethel Baptist as a child and guest of the Porter family. Pastor baptized me in 1991 after Belinda led me to the Lord in her kitchen. Pastor baptized my husband, mother, aunt and mother-in-law. He spoke at my sisters funeral. His preaching led my husband, Gordon, to the Lord. My grandmother Delcie, quietly attended for years after she moved here from WV and couldn’t get enough of his preaching. My husband had a hard time believing when he first walked through those doors. His preaching was the best there is. I remember the love he had for his children and grand children. I’ve never met a person that loved the Lord more than him. I learned so much from him and I’ll never forget the excitement in his voice every single Chance he got to spread the word of God.
