

Born in Youngstown, Oh. on August 1, 1941, he was raised in Niles and was the eldest of four children. He graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1959 and went to Kent State University where he was on the men’s tennis team and graduated with a business degree in 1964. It was during that same year that he married his college sweetheart Carol Robinson. He was employed by Ametek in Kent, Oh for a period of 32 years before he retired as Plant Manager. As an avid golfer and after retiring he worked part time at Oak Knolls Golf Course for 16 years until it closed in 2016.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Paul Hutchings.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Hutchings of Ravenna, Oh. his daughters Kelley (Troy) Lutes of Akron, Oh. and Kimberly Hutchings (Scot Etling) of Kent, Oh., his brother James (Luchy) Hutchings of Gainesville, FL., and sisters; Linda (Charles) Banning of Farmdale, Oh. and Nancy (Gregory) Frazier of Toledo, Oh. Also surviving are nieces; Melissa Banning (fiancé Tate Matthews), Ashley Frazier (fiancé Daniel Kramer), Laura (James) Fernandez and nephews, Paul Hutchings, Kyle Frazier, James Robinson, Brian Robinson and Andrew Robinson.
As per Bob’s wishes cremation has taken place and his family will receive friends to celebrate his life on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St. in Ravenna, Ohio, 44266.
Bob’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the excellent care and compassion given to Bob and our family from Dr. Yanelli, the staff of UH Portage ICU, 2nd floor and the respiratory department as well as the Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland.
