She was a devoted wife and mother and an inspiration to those who knew her as she bravely fought the many debilitating challenges of old age during the last 12 years of her life. She was affectionately called “Rosie” by everyone who knew her.
She was the daughter of Joseph Ferrara and Pasqua Naturale Ferrara. Born in Ravenna, Ohio on November 11, l915, she was the oldest of seven children. Her three brothers, Silvio and James Ferrara of Kent, Ohio and Michael Ferrara of Ravenna, Ohio preceded her in death. She has three surviving sisters, Josephine Lauranzine and Marie Siciliano of Kent, Ohio and Frances Sepi of Lady Lakes, Florida.
In l935, she married Daniel DiLoreto, a top Ravenna athlete, who preceded her in death in l986.
Searching for better job opportunities, she and her husband, Danny, sadly left family and friends in Ravenna and moved to Florida in l952. But, Ravenna was always where their hearts were and where they wanted to be buried.
Rose is also survived by her two children, daughter, Ernestine DiLoreto Cory of Palm City, FL; son, Dan DiLoreto of Tierra Verde, FL; grandchildren, Cheri McCrary of Orlando, FL, Christopher Cory of Davie, FL, Victor DiLoreto of Purceville, VA, Denise DiLoreto Lively of Louisville, KY and six great-grandchildren.
Family will receive visitors from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, Ohio.
