Roy "Bud" Williams

Roy Arthur “Bud” Williams, 91, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026. He was born in Rootstown, Ohio, to Arnold and Mary Ellen Williams, one of four children, alongside his older brother Sonny and younger sisters Patty and Carole. He is survived by his wife, Donna Lusk Williams, and children: Jackie Atkinson, Roy Williams, Donald Williams, Kailie Williams, David Williams, Jeffrey Williams, and Donna Lavoie. He is preceded in death by his daughter Mary Ann Williams.

Raised in humble circumstances, Bud began working at age 11 to help provide for himself. He graduated from Rootstown High School in 1953, where he excelled in athletics—track, football, baseball, and basketball—and served as captain of the basketball team his senior year, leading them to their first conference title. It was there he met the love of his life, Donna Lusk. Even before their first date, Bud felt certain he would marry her. After three years of dating, they were married on December 24, 1955, while he was home on leave from the Army. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Bud built a distinguished career in banking, rising from repossessions to leadership roles, including regional president and CEO. He also served his communities through the Rootstown School Board, Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and the Defiance hospital board.

After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1959, Bud devoted his life to faithful service. He lived his philosophy, “When you put yourself in the hands of the Lord, you’ve got to have unconditional trust…”

Above all, Bud cherished his family. He and Donna raised eight children and were blessed with 34 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his faith, kindness, and deep love for his family.

All are invited to join the Williams family for a viewing on Friday, May 1, 2026 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home in Ravenna, Ohio, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and the funeral service on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2776 Hartville Road, Rootstown, Ohio. Interment at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown will follow.
