

Ruth B. Wood, widow of longtime Portage County Funeral Director Jack Wood of Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, died April 13, 2015, at the La Loma Village Care Center in Litchfield Park, Arizona, following several months of failing health. She has been an Arizona resident the past 8 yrs.
Ruth was born February 2, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Arthur & Charlotte (Jaekel) Becker. After graduating from high school she planned to study Interior Design in New York, but WWII changed all that and she went to work for the FBI at the Federal Courthouse in Manhattan. After the war she married, had 2 sons and settled into being a homemaker and doing volunteer work, fundraising for Little League, Pee Wee Football, Youth Ice Hockey, and a Cub Scout den mother. She also volunteered at area hospitals wherever she has lived, including many years at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Ruth married Jack Wood in 1965 and moved to Ravenna where she became a vital member of the funeral home team. She had been a longtime member of the Jr. Tuesday Club, Ravenna Sorosis, O.E.S. # 46 of Ravenna.
Ruth is survived by her sons Robert "Digger" (Terry Wilson) Kortright & David Kortright both of Goodyear, AZ., stepdaughter Linda (Don) Gepper of Milford, MI., stepsons Jack A. (Dianne) Wood Jr. of Ravenna & Robert A. Wood II of Kent. Also surviving are sister Doris (James) Williams of Denver, CO. & Grandchildren Todd (Amanda) Kortright, Kimberly (Martin) Sears, both of Goodyear, AZ., Matt Gepper of Waterford, MI. and Jeff Gepper of Iowa City, Iowa, Jason (Angela) Wood of Columbus, Ohio and Jack (Maxine) Wood III of Rootstown, as well as 9 Great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gloria Liddy and her husband Jack A. Wood.
Friends will be received Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM memorial service at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
