She was born September 20, 1945, in Ravenna, Ohio, to parents Clarence William and June Faye (Opperman) Try. Scherrie graduated from Ravenna High School in 1963. She enjoyed playing games, especially Yahtzee, cards, and canasta. Scherrie loved music and loved to dance. She met her husband of 41 years, John W. Greenwood Jr., while dancing at Dolly’s Tavern. John preceded her in death on February 19, 2008.
She is survived by her son Michael B. Greenwood of Ravenna; grandchildren: Desireè A. Greenwood, DeAnna K. Greenwood; great-grandchildren: Allexys Greenwood, Frankie Parnell-Greenwood III, Alaina Alexander, Mikaylah Bulman, and Mckenzie Bulman. Scherrie’s memory will also be cherished by her sister Carol Dotterweich of Ravenna, her brother Garrie (Linda) Try of Newport, NC, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday, August 11, 2016, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, with Pastor Stephen Sparling officiating the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
