Sterling E. Finch

He was born August 5, 1924 in Ravenna, Ohio and was the son of Ralph Jefferson and Ethel Ann (Rhodes) Finch. He graduated from Ravenna High School with the class of 1942. Sterling served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII. He married Julia Irene Alderman on March 8, 1952 in Ravenna. He was a real estate agent and retired from Broker’s Choice Realty in Ravenna. Sterling was a member of the VFW Post 1055, serving as their Quartermaster for several years, and was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 2164 and the American Legion Post 331. He attended the Liberty Bible Church.

Sterling is survived by his daughters: Sharon Lee (James T.) Fowler, Patricia Finch (Peter M.) Harjung, and Julie Marie Johnson, and also by his grandchildren: Michael Jerome (Candace J.) Langley, Jr., Christina Langley (Michael S.) McClure, Katherine Elizabeth (Jonathan S.) Tramontana, Peter Finch Harjung, Zachary Kenneth Johnson, Bryan Neil Johnson, Lillian Marie Johnson, and Seth Edward Johnson, great-grandchildren Madison Mary Elizabeth Tillot, Mikayla Cecelia Langley, Michael Cody McClure, Austin Stanley McClure and Jessie Danielle McClure.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Gayle Ann Finch and grandson Patrick Michael Harjung.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brimfield Police Department DARE Program, 1287 Tallmadge Rd., Kent, Ohio 44240 or the Malachi House, 2810 Clinton Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44133.

Family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna from 12:30PM until the 1:30PM funeral service officiated by Pastor Robert Burgess. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
