

Vera Marie (King) Summers, age 88, passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at Woodlands of Robinson Nursing Home.
She was born January 24, 1923 in Cherry Valley, Washington Co., PA to Charles Arthur and Ida (Hartman) King.
Vera worked as a cook at the Town Pump Restaurant and Standard Drug. She also worked at Harcourt Manufacturing retiring in 1965.
Vera loved to travel including trips to Hawaii, Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Luxemburg, and Switzerland as well as many of the States. She was very strong in her faith often reading and listing to the Bible on tapes. She was a member of Ravenna Assembly of God Church for many years.
Vera married Carl Ray Summers of Clarksburg, WV on September 2, 1936. She loved to spend time with her family and really looked forward to the family reunions held every other year on the Fourth of July weekend. She was a wonderful mother raising 12 children and always had a kind word for everyone.
Survivors include: Robert (Linda) Summers of West Union, WV, Wanda Reed of Venice, FL, Donald (Lisa) Summers of West Union, WV, Barbara (Walt) Miazga of Leo, IN, Patricia (Leonard) Retherford of Ravenna, Ida Summers of Ft. Wayne, IN, Nelva (Mike) White of Wichita Falls, TX, Pamela (Steve) Lee of Indianapolis, IN, Cheryl (Richard) Creech of Springfield, OH, Debra (Jim) Maddern of Colorado Springs, CO, and Mark (Amy) Summers of Republic, MO; daughter-in-law Patricia Ann Summers of Abilene, TX, 47 Grandchildren; 81 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren, brothers Raymond King of Tampa, FL, Howard (Karen) King of Rock Island, TN, and sister Arlene Goughler of Crystal River, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ray Summers, son Carl William Summers, granddaughter Cindy Lynn (Miazga) Craft, son-in-law Dennis C. Reed, and grandson Kelly Vanatta; also sisters Freda Carden, Jessie Mancino, Ruby Knight, Ada Aldene Yates, brothers: Arthur, Herbert, Richard King and her parents.
The family would like to thank the WOODLANDS AT ROBINSON staff and Robinson Memorial Hospice for the excellent care given to their mother.
A special thank you goes out to Sandy Caniglia of Sandy’s Notions, Streetsboro, Susan Carlton and Ryan Shepard for their love and support to the family.
Calling hours will be 4-8 P.M. on Monday January 31, 2011, at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St, Ravenna, where services will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, with Ryan Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
