

Walter Ray Westover, age 68 of Ravenna and Cheyenne, Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 31, 2013, while waiting for a double lung transplant in the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born June 10, 1945, in Ravenna, to parents Harry A. and Mildred L. (Rufener) Westover, who preceded Walter in death. He was also preceded by his brothers Harry, Paul, Jim, Richard, and Terry.
Walt is survived by his loving wife Nelroze (White) Eaton of Ravenna, sons: Troy (Tina) Westover and Walt R. Westover; loving step-daughters: Kim (Mike) Lepore and Pam (Chuck) Moody; grandchildren: Taylor, Jacob, and Sabrina Westover, several step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. Walter is also survived by his sisters Lauretta (Tom) Gregory and Millie (Chuck) Miller, brothers Melvyn (Mary) Westover, and Grover (Nina) Westover, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Walter was a member of the Baptist Bible Church in Paris Township. He proudly served his country for 21 ½ years in the US Army and Air Force. Most of his was in missile defense and after retirement, in Civil Services missile defense in F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. In his earlier service, Walter was a member of the 82nd Airborne. He enrolled in jump school to get a better pay for his young growing family and was skilled as a “jumper.”
Walter loved fishing in Lake Erie with his brothers, nephews, and his best buddy Dan Lougen. He enjoyed deer and elk hunting in Wyoming. He and Nelroze prospected for gold in Ohio, New Mexico, and Arizona. Always working as a team each doing their job until they could pan the pay dirt and see the color.
Friends will be received Friday, September 6, 2013, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Baptist Bible Church, 6719 State Route 225, Paris Township. The funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM, with Pastors Mike McLaughlin and Robert Bonar officiating. Interment will follow at Windham Cemetery with military honors.
