William was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to parents Samuel and Minnie (Latshaw) Jones. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and held a B.S. in Civil Engineering. William enjoyed a long career as an engineer with the Ohio Department of Transportation. He enjoyed mathematics, crossword puzzles and loved reading, especially technical articles. William also enjoyed his involvement with the amateur radio group and was a member of the Thunderbirds remote control airplane club.
He is survived by his wife Mary and his children William David Jones, Jr, Ralph D. (Mary) Jones and James I. Jones. Also surviving is his grandchildren Elizabeth A. Jones, Matthew D. (Liz) Ross-Jones and Rebecca K. Jones.
William was preceded in death by his parents and his three siblings.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St, Ravenna, on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 11am until the 12pm funeral service. Interment at Highland Memorial Park will immediately follow.
