William Alonzo "Al" Wilson

Al was born in Akron, Ohio to parents Roy and Perna Wilson on March 10, 1943. Al retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 37 years as a tire builder. He was also known as a terrific handyman always willing to help others with a special heart for the elderly. Al was a member of the Rootstown Fire Department for 10 years and a charter member of the Community Bible Church in Rootstown. After retiring he and his wife Helen enjoyed being “snowbirds” in Arizona where he enjoyed casino trips with his brother-in-law Horace Ward. Al really enjoyed his grandchildren.

Al is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen, and his daughters: Darlene (Mitch) Lambert and Brenda (Jay) Kelsey. Surviving also are his grandchildren: Bob and Elizabeth Lambert and Blaine and Laura Kelsey. Al also leaves his brothers: Frank (JoAnn) Wilson and John Wilson and his sisters: Linda Mehling and GeriAnn (Rick) Collins.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom Wilson and his sister Betty Lou Ward.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service officiated by Pastor Scott Hindel will take place at 7:00PM on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Community Bible Church, 3671 Tallmadge Rd., Rootstown, Ohio 44272.
