Loyd Sellers, age 91, was ushered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on November 5, 2011. Loyd grew up in Collins, Mississippi, but later moved to Raymond, Mississippi where he and his wife of 68 years, Wanzie Sellers, made their home. He was a loving and devoted father to four children and was further blessed with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Loyd worked for most of his life as a farmer and a building/painting contractor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children, and he spent many an hour sitting with his grandson waiting for a fish to bite or a turkey to be called up. He was an avid reader, a devoted friend, and a hardworking provider for his family. He also bravely served his country in World War II.
Loyd faithfully read and studied God’s Word. He was a Believer, trusting in Jesus Christ for his eternal life. For that reason alone, the grief of his family is filled with a certain hope that he is now truly home.
Loyd was preceded in death by his wife Wanzie Sellers, parents, Hubert and Ella Mae Sellers, brothers Floyd Sellers, Willis Sellers, and Clyde Sellers; sisters Gladys McDonald and Edna Ellis; son Jimmy Sellers, and grandson Bill Sellers. He is survived by daughter Kathryn Gore (Gerald), sons Randall Sellers (Linda) and Bradley Sellers (Dolores), four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Wright and Ferguson in Raymond on Monday, November 7, 2011, from 5-7pm. The funeral service will be at Hinds Independent Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at 11am, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Online guestbook www.wrightferguson.com
