Nehemiah E. Dilbert (née Faircloth), 91, passed away on October 29, 2018 after a long, wonderful and fulfilling life. She was a devoted wife of 65 years to her loving husband Joseph who passed in 2011. She leaves their eight children, Mary Anne (Dan) Sorg, Joseph W. (Barb) Dilbert, Jr., Thomas (Judy) Dilbert, Linda (Gary) Finney, Robert (Joyce) Dilbert, Catherine (Jerry) McFarland, Jeffrey (Jenny) Dilbert, and Lisa (Joe) Elfers; their sixteen grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister Jessie Mae. “Nehi” was born and raised in Telogia, Florida, where she learned the values of devotion to God, family and hard work – all of which she instilled into her children. She was a Florida country girl and proud of it, and on our annual summer vacations to Telogia would with pride point out the little white one-room school house in Hosford where she attended kindergarten through high school. Her life together with Joe began after WWII when they met and were married in Savannah, GA in 1944, and moved to Reading, Ohio. Nehi’s “southern charm” quickly warmed the hearts of her new northern family who embraced her as a “Dilbert.” She was an active member of the Reading community until they retired and returned together to her hometown in the Florida panhandle where they spent over twenty years enjoying retirement. Nehi made each of her eight children feel special in their own way, even though she didn’t always get their names right in their crowded little house in Reading! Nehi resided at Mason Health Care Center for the past several years since her and Joe moved back from Florida to be with family. She often expressed her sincerest appreciation to the staff there for their compassion and commitment to helping her enjoy quality twilight years. Please consider donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in lieu of flowers. Visitation 10:00AM – 11:45AM, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Schmidt-Dhonau-Kucner Funeral Home, 8633 Reading Rd., Reading, OH 45215. Funeral Service to follow at 12:00PM, with private burial at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, with her beloved Joe.
