Alberta Karol (Clay) Smith, 73, of Reading, PA joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. Born November 7, 1947 in Allentown, PA she was a cherished daughter to the late Amanda (Golden) Clay and Calloway Clay Sr.
Alberta was a faithful member of Total Family Christian Center, Reading, where she worked with H.E.L.P.S ministry. Her purpose in life was achieved in her devotion to her faith. She was prayer warrior, spending as much time as possible in prayer for her family and others. Alberta cherished her church family and the opportunity to serve in the house of God.
Alberta will mostly be remembered by her family and community as a very loving, giving and outspoken person.She was known by many and loved by everyone. Alberta had a heart of gold, was always thinking of others, and putting their needs first before hers.
Alberta loved going to yard sales and talking, especially on the phone with family and friends. However, above all else she truly loved her children and grandchildren and treasured spending time with them.
Alberta's spirit will be carried on by her 2 daughters Amanda Destin, of Reading, PA; Rae Sustello, of Discovery Bay, CA; brother Donald Burdine, of Georgia; sister Jane Clay of Reading, PA; 3 grandchildren Tenisha Jefferson, of Robesonia; Tajuana Destin, of Wernersville; and James Tisdale Jr., of Discovery Bay, CA. Alberta also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren Ariez, Eric and Tyrell Jefferson; and a host of cousins and friends to cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was greeted in heaven by her beloved husband Ray Herman Smith; sister Barbara Cannon and brother Calloway Clay Jr..
A homegoing service for Alberta will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Theo C. Auman Inc., 247 Penn Street, Reading.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alberta's memory may be made to Total Family Christian Center, 922 Old Wyomissing Rd., Reading, Pennsylvania 19611 and/or Spring Valley Church of God, 2727 Old Pricetown Rd., Temple, PA19560.
