

Darryl William Metz, 74, of Reading, passed away peacefully in Penn State Health Network on Friday, September 18, 2015. He was the loving husband of Joan Diane (Parisi) Metz. The couple married in Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Reading on May 5, 1962.
Born in Allentown on March 11, 1941, Darryl was one of three sons of the late Roy and Margaret (Krause) Metz. He was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. Darryl enlisted in the US Army and served before returning home and taking employment with the Parish Division of Dana Corp. as a fork lift operator for 30 years. After he left Dana, he became a van driver for Antietam School District. He was a member of the Lower Alsace Fire Co.
Darryl was a loyal friend. He made friendships in his youth that lasted his lifetime. He was a hardworking man but he liked to have fun with his family and friends. Traveling was his favorite thing to do. Whether it be cruising or flying out to Hawaii; he looked forward to those trips. Darryl enjoyed shooting pool, gambling and crossword puzzles.
In addition to his wife, Joan; Darryl is survived by a son, Darryl W. Metz, Jr. of Reading; a grandson; three great grandchildren and a brother, Larry Metz of Wernersville.
Darryl is predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ronald Metz.
Services for Darryl are private and at the convenience of the family.
