

David Clay Goda, 79, of Sinking Spring, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Reading Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia A. (Resch) Goda, whom passed away April 10, 1998. He was also the loving father of Patrick D. Goda whom passed away December 29, 1958. Born in Reading on July 31, 1934, David was a son of the late Kermit and Florence (Noll) Goda.
David was a proud U.S. Army veteran that served at a Military Police Unit in Crailsheim, Germany during his enlistment. He was employed with Alcon Laboratory Inc. as an engineer for 22 years before retiring in 1999. Before that, he was employed with TMW, Rockwell International and Arrow International for a combined 25 years. David was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting doves, small game and deer. He enjoyed working around his house and tending to his garden. He owned 10 acres in Birdsboro in the woods and enjoyed the seclusion. He liked to walk the property or drive around on it with his John Deere tractor. He was a dog lover and his best friend was his beagle "Sam."
Surviving is a son, Michael D. and his wife, Debra L. (Perry) Goda of Wyomissing; two brothers, Kermit Goda Jr. of Alburtis, PA and Peter Goda of West Reading; a brother-in-law, Michael and his wife, Billie (Bush) Resch of Sinking Spring and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for David will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
