Deep condolences to this lovely family.   I went to school with Vaughn and Wendy.  Unfortunately too, I see Denis, David’s younger brother, and his wife Nancy passed away.  I was their flower girl when they got married.  Many fond memories of the oldest brother, Mark’s family, too. Went to school with his son, Henry, and daughter, Joy, who was  my best friend for years.  David, Mark and Denis’s parents, Matthew and Helen introduced us to vegetarian meats- Sterner's meats.  Helen was our awesome cook at school.  These little fond memories bring smiles.  Sharon Berwick- Simpson- Diaz

There's so many wonderful memories I have as a granddaughter, it's hard to choose one, especially from my childhood, I always loved going to grandma & grandpa's house, whether it was just to visit, or for holidays, camping/sailing trips, camp meeting, skiing, hiking, swimming...you name it. No matter the season, he always came up with something fun to do, and always had such great knowledge to impart. Even though I was young, maybe 3 or 4, I remember one year I got ice skates for Christmas, and Grandpa made me a little ice rink outside their front door so I could try them out right away; amazing & so creative! Some of my favorite pictures of him from when I was just a tot, include one of him IN my crib reading to me, and one of him sitting IN my highchair with ME feeding HIM, lol, what a grandpa! It's such a blessing that my own children were able to know him and make some of their own memories.

He was a man of many trades, and we all admired his work ethic- even in "retirement" he was constantly working on something, but with an even-paced daily routine, never rushed, always completing things with accuracy and thoroughness; and of course, always taking time for his little afternoon siesta! Grandpa was greatly loved by so many people, and so many lives were touched & blessed by knowing him. We will miss his presence, way of life, love, humor, wisdom, time and dedication to helping others and the church... may we implement all the positive attributes he has passed on and continue to share the memories and stories from generation to generation! We thank you God for such a wonderful man, son, brother, cousin, nephew, friend, husband, dad, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa! Can't wait to be reunited some day!

TRIBUTE TO DAD

My dad was a man of many talents.  He was welder, a builder, a sailor, a skier on water and snow, a hiker, a biker (both motor and pedal), a golfer, a fisherman, a camper, a gardener, an inventor of multiple ideas and gadgets, a furniture maker, a landlord, a trombone player, a practice partner for music lessons etc., etc. 

Above all else he was a family man. He rode his motorcycle, sometimes through rain and snow to go to work at Parish Pressed Steel. When he got home he'd chase us around the property on his motorcycle and showed us how a motorcycle can circle around the inside of a swimming pool bowl, empty of course.  Every other weekend in the summer he'd hitch up the trailer with the boat and take us camping at Chessapeake Bay. He taught us to swim and water ski. And when his hard earned vacation week came around, he'd hitch up again and take us camping for a whole week somewhere new up or down the coast.

There are so many stories that we can all tell that show his humor, his commitment to family and friends, and his commitment to God. 

I will miss this man who taught me kindness, patience and love. This man who is my Dad.

Little by little, you will remember not just that he died, but that he lived and that his life brings you memories too beautiful to forget. With heartfelt sympathy.

Our sweet, kind Dad lives on in our hearts. His love for God's beautiful created works and creatures is a legacy to cherish. He deserves a rest from all his loving labors. Let's meet him in the air when Jesus comes!

Greatly missed every moment...

Love you Uncle Dave. You were always there for me whenever I needed help and my dad wasn't there. All the great memories like picking us up at RJA and getting us all to fit in your car. Your beautiful garden that you always shared with everyone. And oh yeah those prune fruit rolls brad loved so much when aunt Irene was babysitting. You always took the time to explain to me how the special red worms from the compost went to different sections to break down the garbage. And the time I got a call from the post office cause they were holding live bees and couldn't reach you! You're the best

My dear Grandfather will be greatly missed. I have so many great memories tuck away safely in my heart.  He was an adventurous outdoorsy man. I can't wait to meet up with him again, do a little gardening or take an adventurous hike and of course kiss that bald head of his. I love you grandpa and will see you again.
