

Denton Young Griesemer, 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2016 in Season Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. (Fioravanti) Griesemer. Mrs. Griesemer passed away in 2011.
Born in Reading on July 11, 1928, Denton was a son of the late Peter B. and Emma (Young) Griesemer. He was a 1946 Graduate of Reading High School. After graduation, he faithfully served his country at the end of WWII in the US Army. Returning stateside, he graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He was a member of Exeter Bible Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Pottstown.
Denton was the owner and operator of Griesemers’ Pharmacy in Shoemakersville for 19 years before retiring in 1980. He was a hardworking man with a kindness that his customers will never forget. He was known for his great sense of humor but above all, he lived for his family. He was so pleased to meet his first great grandson, Jack.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah “Debbie” G. (Griesemer) Hirneisen and her husband, Clifford G., Sr. of Reading and Dorothy “Dottie” G. (Griesemer) Wert and her husband, Jeffrey R. of Reading; two grandchildren, Aubrey (Hirneisen) Fournier and her husband, William and Jeffrey R. Wert, Jr and his wife Allison and great grandson, Jack Harrison Wert.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Dorothy, he is predeceased by two brothers, Ralph and Donald Griesemer and two sisters, Miriam Griesemer and Catherine (Griesemer) Fake.
Services will be on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11am in Auman’s Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home Wednesday from 10 to 11am. Denton will be laid to rest with his sweetheart, Dorothy in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
