Ferne Louise Dornes

Ferne was a 1957 graduate of Reading High School. She was employed by Western Electric until she decided starting a family was much more important. Fern's greatest love was always for her family. She always put them first and foremost and loved each one with her entire being.

She spent hours at football games and wrestling matches, cheering for her son, Michael, when he was younger, and hours of loving and fun girl time with her daughter, Kimm, which continued up until the time of her death. She was so excited when the grandchildren began to arrive so she could do it all again. First, a boy, Matthew, who she proudly watched grow into a handsome young man. Then two lovely girls, Kali and Mickala, who she couldn't wait to see dance each year at their dance recitals.

Not only did she pour her love into her family, she always gave her abundance of overflow to anyone she felt needed it. She was the real meaning of the word "love" and you knew without a doubt how much her heart held for you. My mother's love and generosity was to be admired. She was and will continue to be in our hearts. I was truly blessed to be able to call her mom.

She loved writing the newsletter for the Pretzel City Street Rod Association for many years. She was voted Lady Rodder of the year in 2002 and enjoyed going to rod runs with her husband, Mick, and her many friends by her side.

Ferne was the daughter of the late Daniel Joseph McDonough and Margaret Ellen (McCloy) McDonough.

She is survived by her husband and two children, Michael H., husband of Kathleen Dornes, and Kimm (Dornes), wife of Brian J. Dzon. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew M. Dornes, Kali E. Dzon and Mickala M. Dzon; and her two faithful companions, Peaches and Rascal.

Services will be held in Auman's, Inc., Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reading (Exeter Township) on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton. Friends and family may view on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
