He was born in Filia Mitilini, Greece, a son of the late Therapon and Panorea (Iskiji) Kefalas. He was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen GOC and was employed by Luden's, later becoming Hershey, for 18 years, retiring in 1997.
George spent a majority of his time gardening and also tending fruit trees and vegetables along with his wife by his side.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by his 2 stepsons: Ted Karahalias and George Karahalias, both of Reading, and his sister, Froso Kefalas of Greece. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Despina Karahalias.
Services will be Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Sts. Constantine & Helen GOC, 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be Wednesday 10-11 a.m. in the church.
