I send my sincere and deepest condolences  to George's  family, his large community of friends, and  many present and past co-workers. It was with deep sadness, that I read of his death in August. George and I had been friends for over 22 years, and we often kept in touch via our cell phones and computers (I live in New England).  George was a kind and gentle man with a big heart, always ready to teach others about saving lives, whether it was through his EMT classes, or  sharing his knowledge with others about the importance of donating blood.  He was devoted 24/7 to his job at the bloodbank, enjoyed the friends he made everywhere along his path in life, and had a big passion for lighthouses.   George always spoke about how much he loved  his family,  and often, with such pride,  mentioned his 2 grandchildren.  George's genuine and dear friendship will be deeply missed.

I have been giving platelets “forever” - every 2 weeks!  I came in today find his obit on the counter!  I was shocked!  He was a great guy.  After I was registered he and I would always talk until I got called to donate.  I will miss him!

My sincerest condolences to the family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I was fortunate to have met and worked with George the past two years. He was always ready with some quick witted humor when we would greet one another. I will miss our short daily chats  and long conversations.  He will be sorely missed by his colleagues and the donors he helped.

To George’s family,  So sorry about your loss.  I looked forward to seeing George every other week when I donated platelets.  He loved when I made him Jewish apple cake and would bring it to the blood center.  I will miss making him laugh.  Until we meet again my friend…be nice to the angels.  Kate Marsh

My sincerest condolence to daughter Melissa and her family with George's passing. I knew George through EMS work and specifically with the county EMS training program. George and I taught EMT classes for many years. I remember George as a very caring, helpful, and patient person. He was always a joy to be around, and I enjoyed working with him in EMS. I will not be able to attend the prayer service, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

When I hired George to work for us at Miller-Keystone Blood Center more than 13 years ago, I had no idea how much passion he would bring to his job. George had a calm and clear speaking voice (perhaps from working in radio), which sometimes prompted donors answering his call to ask, "are you real? Or is this a recording?" Because of this quality, I dubbed him The Silver Fox which always made him smile. George would be seen out in the community always wearing his MKBC ID badge just to encourage conversation about the importance of blood donation. At 75, he showed no signs of wanting to retire because he loved his job and blood center family so much. George, I will miss you so very much and extend my deepest sympathy to your family and friends. May you rest peacefully my friend.
