Joan worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at ManorCare Health Services for 18 years and at St. Joseph Adult Day Services for 12 years.
If you knew Joan, you knew she loved to shop; she could not resist a sale. Joan was also a collector of miniature shoes with several in her collection. She was extremely self-motivated and was always on the move. Joan loved being active and she really enjoyed going on daily walks. In her leisure time, she watched murder mysteries, 'The Golden Girls' and played BINGO. However above all else, she truly treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joan was a sassy, strong willed, and fiercely independent, but yet she was a caring, loving and compassionate woman. She was a force of nature with a great character. She insisted she was an “antisocial introvert” but could work a room like nobody else. Joan was always present in the moment, people watching, absorbing the life and people around her. Having Joan be a part of your life was an unexpected joy that only few had the privilege to experience. She will be fondly missed.
Joan's spirit will be carried on by her niece Andrea Reber, of Reading, PA; 5 grandchildren Anna Brandon and her husband Daryl Brandon Sr., Mikyla Brandon, Zidaya Brandon, Daryl Brandon Jr. and Jacory Brandon, all of Richland, PA. Joan also leaves behind a host of friends to cherish her memory.
A viewing for Joan will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Theo C. Auman Inc., 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601, followed by a prayer service commencing promptly at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Mike Snedeker officiating.
