Joanne Elaine Rapak, 93, a lifelong resident of Spring Township, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Born on March 17, 1931, she was the beloved daughter of the late John and Carrie (Loser) Karish. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Louis Rapak; her daughter Christine Rapak; and her brother Rick Stuart.
Throughout her life, Joanne worked in various roles—from factory work to collecting tolls on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and serving as a school cafeteria worker.
Joanne had a deep love for all animals—whether it was the loyal company of dogs and cats or the wild charm of deer and other creatures roaming the countryside. She found pure joy in car rides through scenic country roads, always keeping an eye out for wildlife. One unforgettable day, while visiting her son Dan, Joanne’s excitement peaked when a bear unexpectedly appeared at the door—a moment she would often recount. Always ready to share the wonders of nature, she delighted in receiving photos and videos of the local wildlife.
When not out exploring the world, Joanne could be found curled up with a good book—the kind with real, turning pages, not an e-book. In her earlier years, she spent countless hours perfecting the art of crochet, a hobby that filled her days with creativity until arthritis gently nudged her away from it. And who could forget her baking? Her kitchen was often filled with the warm, inviting scents of freshly baked cookies, cakes, poppy seed rolls, and nut rolls—treats that brought smiles to the faces of friends and family alike.
Joanne's spirit will be carried on by her daughter Sharon Pino; and her 2 sons Dan and Steven Rapak. She also leaves behind her brother John Karish; her granddaughter Nancy Williamson, and her 2 great grandchildren Colby and Sara Williamson to cherish her memory.
Joanne’s kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family and the world around her will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in eternal peace, dear Joanne.
