Born in Allentown on May 29, 1925 a son of the late Frank P and Eva (Swartz) Eck.
John was employed by the Morning Call and then Reading Eagle as a pressman for 35 years retiring in 1988 and was a US Merchant Marine serving during WWII and the Korean War.
Surviving is his son, Gary W and his wife Susan Eck of Leesport, his daughter Brenda L Eck of Reading, grandson, Zachary and his fiancé Tara, great grandsons, Caleb and Geovanni. There are his step grandchildren, Matthew and Chelsea and her fiancé Adam, and step great grandchildren, Kayla, Jadyn, Case, Julian, Alix, Jordan, and Jameson.
He was predeceased by his brother and sister.
A Memorial Service will be Tuesday January 26, 2016 at 7pm in Auman's Inc Funeral Home, 390 W Neversink Rd., Reiffton. Burial with Military Honors will be Wednesday January 27, 2016 at 9am in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
