Joseph Michael Sokol

Joseph Michael Sokol, 83, of Muhlenberg Twp., passed away in Manor Care, Laureldale, on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. He was the loving husband of Anna V. (Ziolkowski) Sokol. Born on January 8, 1932 in Reading, Joseph was the son of the late Michael and Anna Sokol.

He was a Reading High School graduate. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was employed with Penn Optical for several years in inventory control. Joseph enjoyed fishing at Blue Marsh Dam and enjoyed doing carpentry.

In addition to his wife, Anna V., Joseph is survived by six children: Michele Marie Reissmanns, Michael Joseph Sokol, Richard Patrick Sokol, Laurie Ann Ruth, Gregory Joseph Subisak and Andrew Subisak; 8 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He is predeceased by a sister.

A funeral service for Joseph will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Joseph will be laid to rest in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
