Lester Roy Moyer

Born in Denver, Pa., on May 27th, 1920, he was the son of the late Anson S. and Clara (Wenrich) Moyer. Lester was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army Air Corps 94th Fighter Squadron. He was sent to England then later to N. Africa, Sicily, Sardinia and Italy.

He requested permission to return to England with intentions of marrying his British girlfriend that he left back in 1942. They were married in England in 1945 and would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on October 20th, 2016.

Lester is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, and 4 children: Dr. Wayne Moyer, husband of Shelley, of Peoria, Ariz.; Sandra Moyer, of Lancaster, Pa.; Terrilyn Klucar, wife of Gerald Klucar, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and Dale Moyer, of West Lawn, Pa. There are also 7 grandchildren: Garret, Zachary, Jesse, Andrew and Leah, children of Wayne and Shelley, also Myles and Jamie, children of Dale. Three great-grandchildren: Chase, Carter and Milo.

Lester was predeceased by 2 brothers, Lloyd and John, and 3 sisters: Edith, Elsie and Edna.

A memorial service will be Friday, October 7th, 2016, at 4 p.m. in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading.
