Born in Reading on December 12, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Luke and Mary Julia (Souders) Pennebacker.
She was a 1934 graduate of Reading High School.
Mary was employed with CNA Insurance for twenty five years as a clerk before retiring in 1975.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and gardening.
Surviving are a son, Melvin "Mel" L. Hornberger and his wife, Nancy (Tiley) of Schuylkill Haven; a daughter, Margaret Hornberger of Reading; four grandchildren: Theresa Brignola and her husband, Clifton; Lisa Elliott; Janene Geary and her husband, Steve; and Eric Hornberger; seven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Marion Otto.
Services for Mary are private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery.
