

Nancy Louise Owens (née Harris), 84, of Pottstown, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 2, 2024. She was born on November 19th, 1939 in the township of Tally Ho located in Granville County, North Carolina. She was the second of four daughters born to Herman Lee Harris and Margaret (Maggie) Lee Harris (née Day). The Harris family relocated to Pottstown, PA in the 1940’s and resided on Water Street.
Nancy graduated from Pottstown Junior High School on June 15th, 1956. On January 11th, 1958 she married Otis Lee Hespeth and the two would go on to have one daughter and three sons. Nancy was a homemaker and held various part time jobs, including Fong’s Chinese Laundry Mat on High Street. Nancy then took a full-time position at the Doehler-Jarvis Company where she was a loyal employee for thirty years. Nancy would spend most of her years in Reading, PA and although retired she kept herself busy. She worked part time at the Vanity Fair Outlets and also joined her daughter at Administrative Concepts Inc. in Wayne, PA. Nancy’s hobbies included bowling, jewelry making, and watching her favorite player Tiger Woods play golf.
Nancy’s biggest interest was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She was lovingly known as “Midget” or “Aunt Midge” to the many that loved and adored her. Family was Nancy’s most precious treasure.
Nancy is survived by her younger sisters Janice & Barbara Harris; children Cheryl Hespeth-Mayo (Kevin), Larnell Hespeth (Vivian), Westley Hespeth (Anita), and Anthony Hespeth (Sharleen); grandchildren Westley, Nancy, Donte, Denika, Diamond, Jewel, Otis, and Corey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her second husband Willie L. Owens, her older sister Mary Lee Harris, daughter-in-law Vivian Waller-Hespeth, and granddaughter Zhana LuSane Hespeth.
Services will be held on Friday, July 12th, 2024 at 11am in Bethel Community Church, 575 N. Keim St., Pottstown, PA 19464, with the viewing from 9:30-11AM. Burial to follow in Second Baptist Church Cemetery, Douglassville, PA. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Auman's Inc Funeral Home, Reading is honored to be serving the family.
