Nancy Ruth (Goodman) Stine, 92, of Mohnton, PA, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at her home. Born in Reading on November 12, 1932, Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late Thelma D. (Tobias) Goodman and George W. Goodman. In addition to her parents, she was greeted in heaven by her three brothers, Larry Goodman, Ronald “Sonny” Goodman and Bruce Goodman.
Nancy met the love of her life, Forrest, thanks to a bold move by her friends who arranged a blind date on her 19th birthday. It was a match made in heaven — quite literally, as the two were married on January 2, 1954, and spent the next 71 years building a life filled with faith, family, and adventure.
A devoted member of Zion Mennonite Church in Birdsboro, Nancy served on the kitchen committee, rarely missed a Tuesday women's Bible study, and always looked forward to her annual trip to the Sandy Cove Women's Bible Conference with her sister-in-law Pauline — trips that were part spiritual retreat, part girls' getaway.
Nancy was a homemaker in the truest and most loving sense of the word. She filled her home with warmth, hospitality, and the irresistible scent of her cooking and baking. Nancy was a lover of flowers, and a master crocheter, who was always busy creating beautiful afghans and blankets to give as gifts. She enjoyed watercolor painting, crossword puzzles, game nights, and cheering from the sidelines at her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She had a special appreciation for: classical music, fine art, scenic car rides, road trips with Forrest out West, the quiet beauty of a sunrise and sunset and making bare footprints in freshly fallen snow.
Nancy had a knack for finding joy in the simple things in life. Her laugh was quick, her spirit light, and her heart generous. Even in life’s challenges, Nancy’s devotion never wavered—especially when she lovingly helped her daughter Bonnie care for Forrest during his journey with dementia.
Nancy's spirit will be carried on by her beloved husband, Forrest P. Stine; her four children: Michael Stine (Molly), Bonnie DeSensi (Fran), Kelly Stine, and Tracy Stine; her brother M. Thomas Goodman (Carol); sister-in-law Judith Goodman (widow of Bruce Goodman); six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry her memory with them always.
The family will greet relatives and friends for a visitation on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Zion Mennonite Church, 582 Zion Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508, followed by a funeral service promptly commencing at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Steve Campbell officiating. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 West Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606.
Flowers are welcome, but contributions in Nancy’s memory may also be made to Zion Mennonite Church, 582 Zion Rd., Birdsboro, PA 19508.
