

Richard R. Doerrman, 79, of Fleetwood, died at home unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Born in West Reading on September 27, 1934, he was a son of the late Ralph J. and Pauleen L. (High) Doerrman. He was a Reading High School graduate and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from October 25, 1954 to October 24, 1957. His last rank was Corporal. He was employed with Vanity Fair Corp. for 15 years before retiring in 1999. Prior to that, he was employed in the 1960s with the Reading Bus Co. and in the 1970s with the Reading Brewery. Richard was lifelong member of the North End Rod and Gun Club, which is lovingly known as the "Dips," and an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He enjoyed NASCAR and his favorite drivers were both Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. Richard liked watching TV. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Although he was mostly a private man, he was very likeable and will be missed by many. Surviving are four children: Cathy P. Doerrman of Lakewood, OH; Sherry L. Gooch and her husband, Brian, of Columbus, OH; Grant R. Doerrman and his wife, Heidi, of Kutztown; and Patrick R. Doerrman and his wife, Amy, of Fleetwood; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, with two on the way. Also surviving is a sister, Deborah Guldin, and her husband, Edwin. In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle E. Doerrman. She passed away on October 18, 1977. A memorial service for Richard will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 in Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, at the convenience of the family.
