

Richard “Rich” Stephen Grinnage, Sr., 82, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Reading Care and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Ellen E. (Schnable) Grinnage. The couple married in Las Vegas in 2001.
Born in Reading on February 28, 1935, Rich was a son of the late Alice E. (Grinnage) Brown and stepson of the late Beverly Brown. He was employed as Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 devoted years with Community General Hospital until they closed. After that, he returned to driving tractor trailers and again obtained his CDL. His last employer was Monterrey Mushroom.
Rich was a lifelong proud and dedicated member of the Berks Elks Lodge #47, Walnut St. He enjoyed watching football and working on cars.
In addition to his wife, Ellen; Rich leaves behind to cherish his memory, six children: Richard S. Grinnage, Jr. and his wife, Sherrilann of Florida, Michael Grinnage of Allentown, Todd Grinnage and his companion Jacky Tovar of Exeter Twp., Karen Grinnage of New Jersey, Yvonne DeBeck of Reading and Matthew Brooks and his wife Phyllis of Florida; 8 grandchildren: Danielle Edmonds, Jamiee Kupetz, Chonn Lamont Grinnage, Todd Grinage, Jr., Nevaeh Grinnage, Abbi Rose Grinnage, Tamera Brooks and Amya Brooks, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother: Charles “Edgar” Grinnage and his wife, Bertha of Reading and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Home Going services for Richard will be at 11am Friday, April 21, 2017 in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home Friday from 10 to 11am. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rich to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
