Born in Reading, he was a son of Lisa Marie (Rhodes) Hopkins of Reading and James Hopkins III of Reading.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Amarie Nicole Hopkins of Wernersville, and five brothers: Anthony Hopkins, James Hopkins IV, Terren Black, Kobe Raifsnider and Andrew Hopkins. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Marie Rhodes and Elijah Rhodes, both of Reading and his paternal grandparents, James Hopkins Jr. of Reading and Charlie Faye Hopkins of Philadelphia.
