Sherry Mae Roberts, 71, of Reading, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021. Sherry was born in Portsmouth, VA., on November 9, 1950 a daughter of the late Leo and Nettie (Simon) Roberts.
She was a graduate from I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, VA. In her early years she worked as a CNA. Sherry was a faithful and loyal member of Holy Trinity Church of God and she was employed by BARTA Transportation in Reading as a bus driver for dialysis and disabled patients for over 25 years retiring there. After her retirement she was a private duty caretaker for several years. She was an exceptional woman in her community volunteering at local foodbanks and helping anyone in need. Sherry was very active in her grandchildren's lives, her family was everything to her. She would go out of her way for her children and grandchildren, supporting them in everything they accomplished. Sherry enjoyed traveling especially out of the country. She was a good friend to those who knew her and relied on her daily. She did her best to show how much she cared for her family and friends.
Surviving are her children: Monica (Roberts) and her husband Samuel Butler, Jarvis Roberts, Lavonda Roberts, siblings: Patricia (Roberts) and her husband Gary Watkins, Edward Roberts, Janice widow of Dennis Hilliard, Toniette (Roberts) and her husband Bishop Ray Byrum, 6 grandchildren: Quenzell Roberts, Samir Gould-Roberts, Ja-nel Charlton, Kyle Roberts, Saudia Russell, Sadik Russell and one great grandson: Samir Gould-Roberts, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews and close family friends.
Sherry was predeceased by her siblings: Winford Roberts and Betty Jean (Roberts) Southall.
A Celebration of Sherry's Life will be celebrated Monday January 3, 2022 at 1130am in Theo C Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading. Burial to follow in Charles Evans Cemetery. A viewing will be Monday January 3, 2022 from 9:30-11:30am in the funeral home.
Anyone attending the viewing and services are required to wear a mask and social distance.
