Sky Moon Rivers, 71, of Lower Alsace Township entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at his residence. Born on October 10, 1952, in Chattanooga, Tennessee he was a son to the late James William Richie Jr. and Nellita (Hart) Richie.
Sky embarked on a lifelong quest for knowledge, obtaining a Master's degree in Folklore and Mythology from the prestigious UCLA. He then dedicated a decade of his life to the field of archaeology, unearthing the mysteries of the past and contributing to our understanding of ancient civilizations. Transitioning into a new chapter, Sky found fulfillment in a different realm, spending 10 years at Lowe's as an electrical specialist.
Sky was not only a scholar and professional but also a deeply spiritual individual. As a devoted Sōtō Zen Buddhist, he found solace and wisdom in the teachings of Zen philosophy. This spiritual foundation shaped his outlook on life and radiated a sense of calm and mindfulness to all who crossed his path.
Sky was also a man of diverse talents and interests. A fluent speaker of Scottish Gaelic, he was passionate about preserving and celebrating the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of Scotland. His love for nature and bonsai trees showcased his appreciation for the beauty and harmony found in the natural world.
Sky's creative spirit found expression in various forms – from raising corn snakes to playing drums in the G-Band to his skillful woodworking and the intricate beaded jewelry he crafted. His hands brought forth artistry, and his creations became a reflection of his inner passion and craftsmanship.
Sky's spirit will be carried on by his partner Poet Rivers; his 2 sons David Brooks (Irie) and James Richie. He also leaves behind his brother Lance R. Richie (Vivian); sister Janice Y. Dearman (James); and 2 grandchildren Attika and Noah to cherish his memory.
May his soul find peace in the eternal embrace of the cosmos.
