Virginia B. Meyer, 95, of Reading, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis W. Meyer, Jr. who died August 30, 1998. They were married on September 12, 1948.
She was born on November 6, 1927 in New York City, a daughter of the late, Katherine Wunder and Henry Browning.
Gini was raised in New Jersey and graduated from Franklin High School, Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. where she was a member of the National Honor Society.Virginia was a Girl Scout leader, co-founder of the Wyomissing Hills Women's Club and Vice President. She was a Secretary of the Mount Penn Senior Citizens, President and Secretary of the former Antietam Valley Lions Club, and current member of the Exeter Lions Club. She received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award and recently received her 20 year recognition. Gini was also a long time member of the Berks County Historical Society and a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Reading since 1950 where she served as a volunteer for the Episcopal Women's group and assisting various charities. While a resident at the Heritage, she participated in many activities including the Cheerleading Squad, Heritage Hotties.
She is survived by her four children; Carol Bausher (Thomas), Judith Joffred, Steven Meyer (Pamela), and Jeffrey Meyer, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine Migliorato and predeceased by another sister, Carol Cortese. Virginia was the companion of Paul Leinbach for 11 years before his death on April 6, 2014 and by her 2 grandsons.
Services will be Friday July 7, 2023 at 1:30pm in Auman's Inc Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reiffton. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be Friday 12:30pm-1:30pm in the funeral home.
