Ruth was the daughter of Ethel and George Braswell. She and her brother, Elmer, were raised by their Grandma and Grandpa.
She married George Wundt. They had been married for a short time, when George was killed in the war.
She met and married Harold Sims in Goldthwaite, Texas.
When her daughters were born, she was a stay at home Mom.
Ruth, while living in San Bernardino, Ca, was very involved with her church family.
In Mountain View, Ca, when both of the girls were in high school, Ruth became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked as a private duty C.N.A. It was a job that she loved.
She loved organizing and participating in progressive dinners with the neighbors. The family cat, Toby, also participated in the progressive dinners by following the family around to each house. Occasionally, he would be brave enough to venture inside for a tidbit.
A fond memory is when the two little boys from across the street would come over and asked if “Simsy” could come out and play soccer with them. She would go out and play. These games were often followed by cookie making sessions.
Ruth loved to do home decorating and had a talent for it. She also did the most unusual and beautiful work when wrapping gifts.
Ruth was always dressed for the occasion, whether it was just for breakfast or going out on the town.
Ruth and Harold then moved to Redding, Ca. It was there that they became involved with the Redding Symphony by serving on the Board.
During this time, she joined the Chico branch of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.). The D.A.R. is a women’s service organization, which requires you to be a descendant of a patriot who was in the Revolutionary War.
Ruth and Harold then moved to Red Bluff, Ca. In Red Bluff, she became a docent at the Kelly-Griggs Museum, helping to provide tours to the public.
She was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Mother-in-law. She treated her Son-in-laws as one of her own.
She loved being with family and friends. Whether it was boating on the Delta, shopping, wine tasting with the girls, going on trips or eating out with family and friends. She loved her Pizza and beer. Her favorite Sunday meal was a McDonalds Quarter Pounder and a shake.
She was always out and busy in her community.
A true social butterfly.
