Billy Estan Cronic was born on October 14, 1946, in Denver, CO and went to be the Lord on June 8, 2025. Billy grew up with the nickname “Rusty,” as he was known for his auburn hair as a child. In his younger years, Billy dedicated his time to scouting, alongside his brother, Mike. Both brothers were awarded the merit of Eagle Scout in San Bernardino, California. They were the first brothers in California to receive that recognition at the same time. Billy graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1964. He was very well known as an exceptional baseball player, even being scouted by several major league teams. He went on to coach little league baseball for years at Newmark Little League in San Bernardino, CA.
No stranger to hard work, Billy spent the bulk of his career as a journeyman lineman for Southern California Edison. Even retirement couldn’t keep him idle. For several years, he spent time working in IT for a casino in Reno, Nevada. Summers, however, were spent alongside his wife Judy as they vacationed in Brookings, Oregon. Billy spent his days there fishing and his nights enjoying the cooler weather with friends, sharing stories of the full lives they lived. A hard worker, a longtime friend, and a lover of the great outdoors, Billy will be remembered for the profound impact he had on the lives of those around him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Othal E. Cronic, his mother, Ruby R. Cronic, his brother, Michael E. Cronic, and his wife, Judy Cronic. He is survived by his sister, Gayle Rubacky of Poway, California, his daughter, Dena Scales of Hayden, Idaho, his son, Richard Cronic of Redding, California, and his grandchildren, Sarah Cronic, Lucas Cronic, Savannah Dison, and Shelby Hankins and his extended family who live throughout California and Idaho.
