

Mr. Franklin Dominic Souza was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Frank was born on October 3, 1952 at St. Joseph's Hospital in San Francisco, California. He was the son of Harry Souza and Gerry Souza Whitacre. Frank grew up in Pacifica, California - 1mile from the beach and 3 blocks from the mountains.
Frank was raised with one Brother and two Sisters. He had one brother - Harry Souza, and two sisters - Mary Pittman and Judy Nelson. Frank was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Frank had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. He was a Cub Scout. In his spare time he liked to play marbles and collected baseball cards. Frank's memorable achievements included a certificate in Drama - He liked story telling. He would make it up as he told it. As long as anyone would listen, he had a great imagination! However, to Frank, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
A typical teenager, Frank had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Terra Nova High School in 1970. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Frank enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Frank was able to manage the balancing act. Frank attended American River College in Sacramento where he took all the insurance courses in preparation for his career.
Fortunately, Frank enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Frank worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was insurance broker. He was employed for 25 years. Frank always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Frank enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were public speaking and Toastmastering. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Throughout his life, Frank was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. Throughout his later years, Frank was an active member of Toastmasters, where he held many different positions.
Frank’s faith was important to him. He was a baptist as a baby & was a strong Christian and attended many Christian churches, mainly LDS. He has a certificate in drama in the LDS church.
Frank was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Cesar, a German Shepherd. They were best friends for 10 years. And a family poodle dog named Bijou, for 13 years.
Frank passed away on March 13, 2010 at Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding, California. His death was by complications of double pneumonia. He is survived by his mother Gerry, brother Harry, and sisters Mary and Judy. Services were held at Lawncrest Chapel. Frank was laid to rest in Lawncrest Memorial Park.
Simply stated, Frank was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Frank leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Mr. Franklin Dominic Souza.
