

She was born in Wayne City, Illinois to parents Ed and Flossie Pursell (Matchett) on April 5, 1915.
After graduating high school, where she received numerous awards for her beautiful penmanship, Freda worked as a telephone operator.
She married John Estel Warren March 30, 1936. Freda and John moved from southern Illinois to southern California, then later to Redding in 1941.
Freda volunteered under the Office of Civil Defense as one of the many men and women spotters who kept watch for enemy aircraft in Redding in the early 1940’s. She also worked as a volunteer for several years on her local precinct board.
Freda hosted many family dinners at her home, celebrating holidays and birthdays. She loved to watch parades and fireworks.
Her greatest passions were flower gardening, poetry and sewing, with God and her family as the center of her world.
Freda was a long time member of CrossPointe Community Church where she faithfully played the piano for her Sunday school class, addressed and mailed hundreds of greeting cards and joyfully greeted parishioners for church services; always dressed in hat and gloves
She was preceded in death by her parents, younger siblings, Wilburn Pursell, Reta Sweet, and Alta Dulaney and her husband of forty five years, John.
She is survived by daughter Pat (Dan) Urso of Sequim, WA and son Bud Warren of Redding. She is also survived by grandchildren: Christinna (Keith) Flynn of Scottsdale, AZ, Athena Dunn of Sequim, WA, Scott (Rhonda) Warren of Salinas, CA, Christopher Warren of Redding and Aaron Warren of Arcadia, CA; five great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, four step great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 28, 2015, at 1:00pm at:
Lawncrest Memorial Chapel, 1522 East Cypress Ave, Redding, CA.
