After a heroic battle against congestive heart failure, Jay passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in his residence in Redding, CA.
Jay was born in Maxville, Oregon on June 24, 1924, but grew up in Chester, CA. where he became an avid fisherman.
Jay graduated from Westwood High School and in WWII moved to Sacramento, where he repaired aircraft instruments on military aircraft.
Jay, a longtime resident, was known for being a top-notch watchmaker and jewelry storeowner. He owned Anderson's Jewelry alongside his late wife, Carnation Anderson, until they both retired in 1990.
Jay was preceded in death by his loving wife Carnation, and by siblings John Anderson, Ervalee Herring, Henry Anderson, and June Anderson. He is survived by his children, Steven Anderson of Redding, CA, Mark Anderson of Burney, CA, and Linda Ostling of Davis, CA. He is also survived by six grandchildren (Tina, Chad, Ashley, Michaela, Conor, Owen) and four great-grandchildren (Dylan, Alexis, Harlow, Brian Jay). Anyone who knew Jay, knew how much he loved to joke and he took a fond interest in the activities and lives of those he loved. According to Jay, his greatest joy in life was interacting with and staying apprised of the activities of his family.
We will miss his silly sense of humor, radiant smile and contagious laugh.
