Kathleen was born August 18, 1930 in Spokane, Washington to John and Mathilda (Tillie) Tobin. The family moved to to a farm in Culdesac, Idaho when she was young.
Kathleen married Floyd Sutton in 1953 and after college they moved to Redding, California to raise their family. She taught elementary school in Redding for more than 30 years. When she was out and about in Redding, she would frequently run into her old students, whom always remembered her fondly. After retiring, they both moved to the Oregon coast for several years before returning back to Redding.
Kathleen was an avid cat lover, reader, traveler, quilter and card player. She traveled extensively in Europe after she retired. She loved her family with all of her heart and was never happier than when she was feeding her family, making them quilts and chatting them up while playing cards, Pollyanna or some other game. Her unique sense of humor often came out while playing games with her family. She adored her grandchildren and was a wonderful role model and matriarch to us all. She always saw the best in everyone, even when they couldn't see it themselves.
Kathleen leaves behind her children Mike (Donna) Sutton, Suzie (Mark) Gustafson, and Mindy (Todd) Miller; grandchildren Kortnee, Makyla, Marshall, Rachel, Austin, Ryan and great grandson Sawyer; and her brother Jack (Mary) Tobin. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd Sutton in 2002.
Services will be held on Monday, April 13 at 1pm at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 2600 Shasta View Dr. In Redding..
