She was the oldest of four children. She is survived by all three of her younger brothers Al (Denice), Don (Deb), and Mike (Denise).
She married Dennis Wharton on December 15,1962. She was the mother of four children, Richard, Steve, David, and Debbie. She had two daughters in laws Robyn & Penny and a son in law Neil. She had 8 grandchildren, Ryan, Stevie, Jessica, Kaitlyn, Breann, Brett, Calie, and Kayla. She was blessed to gain more grandchildren when they married and gained Victoria, Kyle, Brent, Manny, & Grecia.
She was beyond blessed by her great grandchildren, Rilynn, Wyatt, Malcolm, Cooper, Kayleigh, and Scarlett.
She came to know her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ shortly after moving to California with Dennis. She became a Pastors wife when Dennis surrendered to pastor and she served faithfully for over 50 years. She was a Proverbs 31 Jewel adored by many for her faithfulness as a wife, mother, grandma, Gigi, and friend to many.
She worked for the state of California Rehabilitation department working with and for those who were deaf for 25 years before retiring. She used her sign language skills as a ministry in the church where she was able to lead people to the LORD, as well as teaching others in the church sign language that they still use in the church.
After retiring from the State of California, she went back to school and got her doctorate degree in counseling. She used those skills to help counsel many ladies about how to be a Godly woman and overcome some extremely hard issues that can only be healed by GOD and through Gods word. She discipled & taught both the older and younger ladies how to become cherished Proverbs 31 women.
Her love for missionaries and their families took her overseas to Romania where she ministered to those missionary wives and kids. The bible states that the eye affects the heart and hers was touched on that trip because she came home with a burden on her heart to help meet the missionary families needs. Her excitement and burden for them helped to lead this church to send washing machines & dryers, heating systems for their homes, and helped to raise funds for a new van for one of the missionaries. They also started sending Christmas gifts yearly to them, and once she also traveled to Romania to deliver the gifts in person. My Dad and her were involved in giving to missionaries through faith promise giving which she continued and even increased her giving after dad’s passing.
She wanted all to know about the most important thing! The most important thing is that everyone else would also come to know her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She knew without a doubt that God’s word is true. Because Linda trusted Christ as her Savior by faith and received HIM into her heart. She knew that when she passed from this life she would open her eyes in Heaven. She is now in the presence of her Savior with so many that she loved who went there before her like our Dad. If you don’t know JESUS, and JESUS doesn’t know you please ask me or the Pastor so you too can have this assurance of a future in heaven with Jesus as both my parents had.
As if she didn’t have enough on her plate, her love for quilting was one of her favorite things to do in her down time. She loved finding new patterns and fabrics creating beautiful blankets. She and some of the ladies from church started a ministry where they made quilts for people suffering from illness and those who lost their homes in some of the fires. She made quilts for her whole family and many many others too. We have a few displayed here today.
Linda K Wharton, excelled at all this and much more. Our lives have been beyond blessed and enriched for knowing her, loving her, and being loved and prayed for by her. We know that she is now home in heaven where she hopes that each and everyone will join her there one day when we take our last breath here on earth.
