Marcella Koeplin passed away peacefully on January 20, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, August, her brothers Edwin and Bryl, her sister, Gladys and her grand-daughter, Michelle Marie Fleck.
Marcella is survived by her 8 children: Chuck (Ann) Koeplin of Twin Falls, Idaho, Peggy Fleck (Jerry) of Cottonwood, CA, Mary (Bill) Richter of Anderson, CA, Sharon (Cary) Rader of Redding, CA, Brenda (Mike) Benjamin of Modesto, CA, Carol (Arthur) Martin of Anderson, CA, John (Tammy) Koeplin of Hailey, Idaho, Connie (Randy) Wade of Cottonwood, CA. By her grandchildren: Regina (Mike), Casey, Michael (Elisha), Nicole (Scot), Bill, Trevor, Cory (Jessica), Christopher, Joshua (Crystal), Audie (Sandra), Julie (Adam), John, Natasha, Alisha, Josie and Cody. By her great-grand children: Tigray, Dane, Sierrah, Michael P., Matthew, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Casey, Aspen, Triston, Landon, Nia-Lyn, Reese, Austin, Nevaeh and Colton. By her great-great grandchild, Chase and many nieces and nephews in Minnesota.
Marcella was born in Millbanks, South Dakota on November 4, 1923 to Elias and Julia Carey. For a short time she was a school teacher in Pine River, Minnesota. She left this career and traveled to Richmond, California with her dear friend, Geraldine to work in the shipyards. She returned to Minnesota where she met and married August in 1949. The family moved to Redding, California in 1969. After August's passing in 1985, Marcella moved to Cottonwood to reside with her daughter, Connie, son-in-law, Randy and grandson, Cody where she lived in comfort for many years. In 2008, Marcella moved to her daughter Peggy's home who cared for her full time in her remaining years.
Marcella's happiest times were during the many family celebrations where she was surrounded by all her children, grand children and great grandchildren listening to stories and laughter.

Graveside services will be officiated by Reverend Leo Jordan at Lawncrest Memorial Park in Redding, on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Lawncrest Chapel (530-222-1587)
