3/29/1930 – 6/20/2013
Mary Louise Nelson passed away peacefully in the presence of her family Thursday June 20, 2013. She is survived by her husband Buck Nelson, brothers John and Joe Summers, sister Retha Fuller, children Linda Craig, Frank Hogue, Karen Capfer, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
She was born Mary Louise Summers on March 29, 1930 in Tahlequah Oklahoma to James and Laura Summers. First and foremost Mary loved ALL of her family. Once family ALWAYS family. She carried around a “Brag Book” of pictures to show everybody how beautiful her family was. “Not an Ugly one in the Bunch” she would say. She was a constant protector, defender and supporter for those she loved. She enjoyed traveling to the ocean where she liked to fish, crabbing and collecting agates. She loved watching hummingbirds and always kept the feeders full on her porch. She spent hours making quilts for her family and friends. During football or baseball season you could guarantee a game would be on her TV and she loved her San Francisco teams. Mary will be greatly missed but we know that she is home with her heavenly Father and has been reunited with her son Steven Hogue and the others that have passed before her.
A visitation will be held at Lawncrest Chapel, 1522 E. Cypress Ave., Redding, CA 96002 on Thursday, June 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and a celebration of Mary’s life will commence on Friday, June 28th at 1:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at Lawncrest Memorial Park. Please follow a photo collage of Mary’s life at www.lawncrestchapel.com.
