Merlin passed away peacefully at home after a full day of family and friends visiting. He was 91 years young. Merlin was very hard working man and worked construction in Redding and in various countries around the world. Merlin was the superintendent for the Glory Hole at Whiskeytown Lake. He also worked on the Lewiston Dam. Merlin took a job in 1964 and traveled to the Philippines building the Angat River Dam. He and his wife Dorothy traveled also to Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Columbia. He retired and returned to Redding when he was 65.
He leaves behind, Dorothy, his loving wife of 71 years. He also leaves behind three sons and three daughters in law. Gary and Jan, Joe and Jacqueline, Dick and Lori Breedlove all of Redding. He made friends all over the world and came home to spend the last years having fun with his grandchildren, Jeff and Patti , Kenny and Ashley, Branden, Chad, Shannon and Mike. He had two great grandchildren, Logan and Reagan. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. Merlin loved to garden and was the handy man for anyone that needed him.
Services will be held at Lawncrest Chapel on East Cypress, Friday November 16, 2012 @ 12:00 noon.
