It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Dunn, who passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 1, 2025, at the age of 73. Mike was born on October 27, 1952, in Oakland, California, to Robert and Rita Dunn, and was one of four sons—Ken, Jim, Mike, and Scott, the youngest.
Mike was a resident of Redding, California, where he built a life filled with love, family, and friendship. Throughout his career, he worked for Hydraulic Control Inc. and CH2M Hill, where he was respected by his colleagues and took pride in his work.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jim and his parents Robert and Rita Dunn.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara; his children Tyler and Teresa; his five grandchildren—Kaleb, Isabella, Fitzgerald, Elizabeth, and Casey—who brought him endless joy; and his brothers Ken and Scott.
Mike was a dedicated husband and devoted father. As his children grew up, he spent countless hours coaching their soccer teams, creating lasting memories both on and off the field. He was also a gifted storyteller, known for sharing both imaginative tales and real-life adventures. His grandchildren especially cherished this—whether he was spinning a playful yarn or recalling a moment from his own life, his stories were always something they looked forward to.
Mike was an avid fisherman, and any day spent with a rod and reel in his hand was a good day. He loved all things outdoors, from gardening to camping, and found peace in the simple beauty of nature.
He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family and friends. His generosity, kindness, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.
Mike proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam, carrying himself with honor and integrity throughout his life.
Funeral services will be held at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo on January 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM. 🕊️🤍
