

Buck Ware passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 23, 2014 after a long illness. Buck was born on April 11, 1933, the youngest child of Hubert and Mae Ware, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.He attended Broken Bow schools where he excelled in sports, particularly football. He was a loyal 49'ers fan through wins and losses. After graduating high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served with distinction. After his honorable discharge in 1955 he moved to California and never looked back.In 1964 he married LaSaine Stratton. They were very happily married for 50 years during which they built a home and raised a family together.Buck worked for several lumber companies before his retirement during which he became a master saw filer.He had a special talent for working with children and coached Little League teams for sixteen years.He loved to fish and spent much time on his house boat on Shasta Lake.Over the years their home in Cottonwood became a mini-farm where Buck raised a large garden and orchard. He kept his church family in fresh produce for months at a time.This man loved his family and home more than anything. He will be fondly remembered by his wife, LaSaine, son Tim and beloved mother-in-law, Vera Miller with whom he loved to talk gardening. He is also survived by sisters Louise Willis and Lucille Spoon of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, brother Ernest Ware of Oklahoma City, brothers-in-law Bruce and Kenneth Stratton of Cottonwood and Red Bluff, sister-in-law Laurie Day of Cottonwood and numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by sons David and Dale and his parents.A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Cottonwood on November 17th at 1:30 p.m.
