1937 - 2011
Sylvia Ogle of Redding, CA, passed from this life to her heavenly home in the afternoon of June 7, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Sylvia was born on January 1, 1937, in Rockford, IL, to Swedish parents Oscar and Jenny Nyquist.
In 1946, her family moved to Southern California, her place of residence for most of her life.
Following her high school graduation, she married Joel "Jay" Ogle in December of 1954, in Indio, CA. It is there where later her two daughters were born and raised through their high school years. Sylvia worked for many years at Desert Sands Unified School District in Indio. Later, when the family moved to Costa Mesa, CA, Sylvia worked in the payroll department of the Orange County Water District.
Upon retirement, in 1993, she and Joel made their final move to Redding, CA, joining one daughter and her family. The second daughter and family would follow soon. She has spent the last many years enjoying her children and grandchildren, encouraging them to be faithful to the Lord and supporting them in so many ways.
Sylvia has always been active in her church, taking a special interest in providing for youth and children's ministries as well as missions. Besides monetary support, for many years, while still able, she and Jay even gathered donations of baby furniture, household items and clothing, delivering them to missionaries in Mexico.
Sylvia leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Joel; two daughters: Darlene Davis (and husband David) and Clarice Ann Kerns (and husband Frank); four grandchildren: Jeff Davis, Jennifer Davis, Nathan Kerns and his wife Genger; and Kristen Kerns; and one great-granddaughter Raquel Kerns.
Services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Christian Life Center,
