

William Weston Brown, a longtime resident of Anderson, passed away on November 29, 2025 in Redding. William was born December 27, 1938 to William Beldon and Minnie Emma Brown in Quincy California at the old county hospital. His siblings Cliff, Barbara and Alfred (buddy) have all predeceased him. Enjoyed fishing in the Quincy area growing up. During high school he worked for the ‘five and dime’. After high school he tried to find work in Quincy but ended up working on a farm stacking hay. He enlisted in the National Guard and received an honorable discharge. He then worked on a construction crew and met his future wife (Lylia Cummings) in Weed California while working on a job site. William said that as soon as he met Lylia, he knew that she would be his future wife. William and Lylia were married on July 26, 1958, in Redding California and established residence in Anderson.
William said that his proudest accomplishments include raising 6 children with Lylia and his hard work as a heavy equipment operator and plant foreman at JF Shea in Redding. William received an award from the Operating Engineers Union for his 50+ year career.
William is survived by his wife Lylia, and his 6 children Brenda Spinks (Wayne), Anna Vanni, Robin McDermott (Jon), Duane Brown, Kenneth Brown (Kathleen), and Jeff Brown. He is also survived by his sister Julie Wright.
William and Lylia’s legacy includes 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
William will be interned at Redding Memorial Park in Redding. A Celebration of Life service is planned for a later date.
